Our Board of Directors
Henri Cullinan
With over 27 years of urban planning experience and a Master’s in Town Planning, Henri brings a balance of skills from strategic planning, city and urban planning, economic development and feasibility and integrates these talents with preserving, building and maintaining social housing.
His wealth of experience will launch JHSOK forward in a strategic intricate part of the equation of the Okanagan & Kootenay communities. His leadership will help set a course for establishing JHSOK as a strong community solution-oriented society where he sees a potential for change in cross-sharing and exchange of best practices that will contribute to the current housing and community dialogue.
Pam Moore
Board member
Pam’s background is an Environmental Health
Officer. She worked as a healthy community specialist
at Interior Health, upon retirement she went into
Journey Home Task Force. Still sits on committees of
boards for healthy communities within the health
authorities (provincial).
Now on the community advisory committee for the
regional CSC.
Micki Ruth
Board Member
Micki is a former police officer with a degree in criminology and a keen interest in the intersection of social wellness and the judicial system.
Although most of her career was in the field of Human Resources, with over 20 years experience, and 10 years in senior management, Micki’s interest and desire to make a contribution in the field of policing and social wellness never wavered. To that end, she has served on the Halifax Board of Police Commissioners, the Edmonton Police Commission and the Canadian Board of Police Governance. She has Chaired both the Edmonton and Halifax Police Commissions and was President of the CAPG.
Micki also has additional board experience through serving on the boards of the Neptune Theatre (Halifax), the Citadel Theatre, Women Building Futures and Habitat for Humanity (Edmonton).
Mary Butterfield
Board Member
Mary is a senior advisor with the federal government, and has a background in the post-secondary sector. Prior to joining the federal public service Mary worked at UBC Okanagan as a research facilitator and advisor, as well as teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She has a PhD in Philosophy from Vanderbilt University where her graduate work focused on the concept of inclusion within Canadian democracy, a reflection of her interest in social justice, reconciliation, and poverty reduction. Locally, Mary has sat on the boards of the Kelowna Art Gallery and the Central Okanagan Foundation.
About the John Howard Okanagan & Kootenay Board
The John Howard Society of Okanagan & Kootenay is a mature, robust organization with an experienced and skilled management group dedicated to creating safe, healthy, and inclusive spaces for those in our community who struggle to share fully in the opportunities and benefits that the communities we serve have to offer. Our Board focuses on governance through setting goals and setting and monitoring our strategic and business plans in an effort to advance our goals. We make decisions that support our Chief Executive Officer and guide our organization in achieving our strategic plan. In addition, we approve and monitor our annual budget. We are collectively responsible for the overall performance of our society and accountable to our partners in the pursuit of our goals We take pride in doing all of this in an environment that is respectful, collegial, and that ensures a diversity of views are represented and heard
