Stephen Village is named after Paul S. Henry, an attorney in Kelowna who for many years volunteered on the Board of Directors for John Howard Society Okanagan & Kootenay. Located at 2025 Agassiz in Kelowna, Stephen Village consists of 51 units and is opened late summer of 2020.
Stephen Village is a housing first supportive housing project that supports individuals with diverse needs, including homelessness, mental health concerns, and substance misuse. The Housing First model offers permanent, affordable housing to the most vulnerable while providing appropriate embedded supports.
Stephen Village will offer individuals support in their wellness journey through:
- Life skills coaching
- Wellness planning
- Being part of a community and involvement in the greater community
- Employment education
- Peer support
- Volunteer involvement
- Community gardens
- Harm reduction
- Advocacy
- Healthy meals are provided
- Harm reduction based
All participants will agree to our good neighbour commitment and sign a program agreement. Stephen Village is funded and works in partnership with BC Housing and is part of the province-wide Rapid Response to Homelessness. For eligibility and referrals: Individuals must be homeless or at-risk of homelessness. They must fill out the Supportive Housing Registry form for BC Housing, and email the form to:
